Mayport Coastal Sciences Middle School PTA's Mission

The mission of the Mayport Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is to work together to support the ongoing process of helping our children become Independent Learners. By providing a volunteer presence at the school, participating in the decision making process and providing additional financial resources we are partners with the staff in their endeavor to teach our children cooperative learning, technology, critical thinking, multiple inteligences, science, reading, writing, and mathematics throughout their education.

Mayport Coastal Sciences Middle School PTA's Focus & Guidelines

The Mayport Coastal Sciences Middle School PTA is a way for families and teachers to support their children's education. As such, we expect members to be positive role models for all the children of the school, and work within the same guidelines that we ask of our children, be kind, be safe and be a learner. We want to do everything in our power to make the PTA a friendly, open, positive force in the lives of our children.

The PTA will work to support Mayport Coastal Sciences Middle School through regular business meetings, fundraising, and community building events to build community involvement and support.  If you would like to become involved at any level, please contact a PTA board member or the committee chairperson.

Florida PTA is the largest statewide volunteer organization working exclusively on behalf of children and youth. Founded in 1921 as a branch of the 6 million member National PTA, Florida PTA is made up of 1,341 local units with more than 361,807 Florida members seeking to unite home, school and community for all children.

As a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit educational organization, Florida PTA is authorized to accept tax deductible charitable contributions in coalition with state and local agencies cooperating to influence policy makers on the health, education, welfare and safety issues affecting children and youth.

Any mother, father, teacher, principal, custodian, cafeteria worker, coach, counselor, grandparent, student, businessperson or citizen who believes that children are our future is a welcome part of our organization.

Giving freely of our time and energy for the welfare of children is the foundation of every PTA project. From hot lunches to juvenile justice, and from classroom aid to legislative lobbying, we always have pursued our goals with the zeal that comes from devotion to our children.

While recognizing the importance of other volunteer groups, the framework of Florida PTA allows us to use our volunteer efforts to the fullest and to assist other groups when necessary.
